How to read every savings figure on this site.

The headline rule

All savings, “best deal” and EMI figures shown on this website, including in calculators, illustrations and testimonials, are illustrative and provided for general guidance only. They are not an offer, a guarantee, or financial advice tailored to you.

Lifetime vs present value

Unless stated otherwise, a savings figure represents the total (nominal) interest saved over your remaining loan tenure, a lifetime number that adds up amounts spread across many years. Because money today is worth more than the same amount in the future, the present value of those savings is lower. Where we can, we show the present value alongside the lifetime figure so you can judge both honestly.

Present values on this site are computed using a discount rate of approximately 7% per annum, applied to the stream of monthly savings. This is a modelling assumption, not a prediction.

What the figures assume

  • The inputs you provide (balance, rate, tenure) are accurate.
  • Interest is calculated on a reducing-balance basis with monthly compounding.
  • Rates remain as entered for the remaining tenure (floating rates will, in reality, change).
  • Fees you enter (conversion, processing, legal, valuation, stamp) are complete and correct.

What can change your actual outcome

  • Your credit profile, income, property valuation (LTV) and the specific lender’s policy.
  • Changes in benchmark rates (repo rate, MCLR) and lender spreads over time.
  • Taxes, statutory charges, and any benefits or deductions applicable to you.
  • Eligibility and final pricing, which are at the sole discretion of RBI-regulated lenders.
